Hi TRGodwin
Thank you so so much. My mother gave me this info. What little it was lol.
So I take it from the info, he wasn’t in 2nd Marine Division, and didnt see combat on Betio..?
He was attached to 1st Marine Division, being with 1st Marine Amphibious Corps.?
Or were some 1st Amph attached to the 2nd ?
A million thank yous TR Godwin will pass all info to mum
God Bless

Sorry, wish I could add more info. The roll doesn't have a specified location. However, a number of the Marines had footnotes in Auckland. In Jan 44, there was a footnote to a drowning accident in a place called Otaki Beach. Who they were attached to in the larger picture I'm not sure. This depot group had a lot of different job-type assignments and did not appear to have been deployed in combat at Tarawa. Finding them in November 43 is a little cumbersome as there is no index to that month amongst the rolls. Best regards.
